AAn abbreviation for ace. Also sometimes refers to a casino which accepts big bets. Because an ace counts as either 1 point or 11 points, depending on the player, the ace is one of the most important cards in the deck. (Any card with a value of 10 is also really important.) There are only four aces in the deck, but there are sixteen different 10's in the deck. But when you combine an ace, which is worth 11, with any face card or a 10, you automatically get a total of 21, which is considered a natural 21. And most blackjack games provide a bonus payout for a natural 21. (A natural 21 is also called a "blackjack".) A deck can be considered "Ace poor" or "Ace rich". An ace count keeps up with whether or not a deck is ace poor or ace rich. Casinos who accept big bets are probably not too important to most casual blackjack players. I don't know too many people who aren't satisfied with $5 betting limits, or $10 betting limits, or $25 betting limits. In fact, I don't know too many people who bet $100 a hand on a game of blackjack either. But some casinos specialize in dealing with "whales" or high rollers. And these casinos will offer betting limits of $1000 per hand, or $5000 per hand, or even more. People running websites about blackjack don't have that kind of money to wager on a single hand of blackjack. |
